Why Deep?

Deep Compositing was invented to allow artists to layer together complex volumes, particles, or overlapping CG elements. This is a common workflow on feature films!

Film Level Assets

It’s one thing to read about a topic - and another to get hands on practice and have a workflow established. Gain experience with our hands on training through multiple projects. You can use our shot on your reel!

Scripts, Assets, and Training

We provide everything you need to understand Deep Compositing.

This is not only a DEEP course, artistic tricks and techniques for layering complex CG shots are also a large part of the training included.

FAQ

Who should take this course?

  • Artists seeking experience with Deep Compositing and have little experience doing so
  • Artists looking to improve their reel with a CG Shot
  • Students who have an intermediate understanding of Nuke already (Can be found in earlier courses)
  • VFX Artists in Adjascent Disciplines (FX or Lighting) who want to incorporate Deep into their workflows

Requirements for this Course

  • 150GB of Storage recommended. The project is a 100GB download - Deep files are big. If you do the shot, you need storage to save precomps as well.
  • Sufficient internet speed to download 100gb of files. They're split into 10GB chunks for convenience.

Approximate Download Time: 10mbps SPEED download of 100gb = 22 hours, 100mbps SPEED download of 100gb = 2.2 hours download

  • (ALTERNATIVE OPTION) - If you don't want the 100gb project, we've separated the course to have a "lite" version as well, so you can still learn all the concepts on 1 frame of the shot.
  • 16GB Ram Minimum, 32GB-64GB Recommended
  • Nuke Non Commercial (It's a Free Download)
  • SSD Recommended for hard drive storage. Read / Write speeds with deep can be heavy. You can also use an external SSD with USB 3.0

What if I have a question during the course?

You can send emails to have email support, normal response time is 3-5 days.

Can I use the feature film level shot in my reel?

Absolutely. We provide a general template and layout, but we do not provide the script for the final composite as shown in the shot. This is so anyone can build the shot for themself, and recruiters will know you actually did the shot (not copied).
