Welcome

To The Workshop

It's time to make your own creations

It's time to make your own films.

What happens when a feature film VFX artist goes rogue - merging techniques using Blender, Nuke, and new A.I Workflows?
Find out in this workshop!

Why Blender & Nuke?

It’s simple.
Blender
is a powerful, yet cost effective solution for independent artists and small teams.

Nuke adds the final polish necessary to make your CG look great. After Effects is the wrong tool for great CG compositing.

A.I Workflows are experimental, this workshop explores workflows and techniques you will not find in big studios.

Stay ahead of the curve of technological change, and think like an artist.

Enhance your haze and volumetrics, lighting and compositing, textures, matte paintings, lens flares, and more.

Learn & Build Resourcefully

One of the core focuses of this workshop is to think like a resourceful filmmaker.

Many of the lessons, approaches, and line of thinking is within that philosophy.

We also provide a bunch of cool VFX ASSETS that you can use in any future project,

(which combined are worth more than the price of this workshop itself!)

Study the Masters, Become the Master

We’ll take visual principles from movies like Dune and The Creator, and learn how the same visual language was applied to these shots.

You will have access to the Nuke script to see every decision made, and we will do a complete step-by-step walkthrough of the artistic decisions.

Even if you’re new to Nuke, this is the best way to learn, and the knowledge carries directly into your own projects.

How is the workshop structured

The course is structured and explained as walkthrough. We won't build the CG shot from scratch (otherwise it would be 100+ hours), to keep the workshop concise it focuses on the key concepts that will be useful for you as an artist. Artistic principles, new workflows, and techniques for color / lighting / blending / elements / asset creation and more. We won't focus on every knob and button - this is not a software beginner course. If you have any questions, feel free to ask @ compositingacademy@gmail.com

Requirements for this Workshop

  • 50GB of Storage recommended. Some of the smoke assets are large files (2-5gb for each).
  • Nuke and Blender. Nuke is FREE for non commercial use. The Non-Commercial version has very few limitations. Nuke is used in every major VFX studio worldwide.

  • 16GB Ram Minimum, 32GB-64GB Recommended

What if I have a question during the course?

You can send emails to have email support, normal response time is 3-5 days.

Do I need to know Blender to take this course?

No. The 3D Principles will easily carry over into any software. We do use Blender as an example, but this course is primarily focused on techniques, not software.

Do I need to know Nuke to take this course?

Yes. Many techniques that are taught are only possible in Nuke. Nuke Non-Commercial is FREE, which many people do not know. It's the best software for Compositing. If you want a discount for Nuke Courses, check out the below offer!

Can I use the assets even after the course?

Yes! They are yours for non-commercial OR COMMERCIAL use! The only limitation is you may not re-distribute them as stock footage or elements by themselves, but you can use them in any film project or game as long as the original files can't be extracted. This is licensed for one person taking the course, if you're a studio, feel free to reach out for different licenses.

Can I use this shot for my demo reel

If you do the full shot from scratch, you can use it. However, if you use portions of the existing script that's provided, you're only cheating yourself. This workshop is primarily for learning not for demo reels since the script is provided to you.
